Demo of the upcoming documentary "Dry stone walls - Sculpting landscapes on the terraces of the Aegean Sea"
In the demo of the documentary "Dry stone walls - Sculpting landscapes on the terraces of the Aegean Sea", images from Andros terraces and their drystone structural elements, the traditional agricultural practices applied over time, as well as the Drystone-wall Schools, implemented within the framework of the LIFE TERRACESCAPE project, are presented. The visual material is accompanied by a narrative focused on the importance of the art of drystone as well as the role of the LIFE TERRACESCAPE project.
The documentary "Dry stone walls - Sculpting landscapes on the terraces of the Aegean Sea" outlines the timeless relationship of islanders with the Aegean Sea landscape, focusing on the, completely intertwined with the life on the islands, construction and cultivation of terraces. It presents the past, present and future of terraces, their cultural and ecological value, with special emphasis on their environmental importance, through their timeless function as Green Infrastructures, which today are an insurmountable tool for halting the impacts of climate change that threaten the Aegean Sea.
